Ladakh (meaning
"land of high mountain passes") is a mountainous region in North
India. Leh, the main city is situated at 3500m above sea level nestled in the
great Himalayan, Karakoram, Zanskar, and Ladakh ranges. Ladakh is known for
remote mountain beauty, studded with monasteries and stupas. Ladakh is often
referred to as "Little Tibet" due to its geographical proximity and
strong links to Tibetan culture.
Leh is at 3500m
above sea level so acclimatization can get difficult because of the high altitude.
It is advisable to spend at least two days acclimatizing before you set out
for your adventures. Drink plenty of water or other fluids such as soup, tea, and juice.
Ladakh is a rain shadow region of the Himalayas, the annual
average rainfall in Leh is 100 mm. In summer, the temperature reaches 25°C and it
drops down to -15°C in winter. The high passes are closed during winter due to
heavy snowfall.
Languages:
Ladakhi,
Zanskari, Tibetan, English, and Hindi - The predominant language is
Ladakhi, it is closely related to Tibetan though is not mutually intelligible
with it. A Ladakhi phrasebook "Getting Started in Ladakhi" by Melong
publication is available in bookstores.

palace and one of the central attractions in Leh. Built under the patronage of King Sengge Namgyal, it used to house his family. The nine-story

is the sweeping view of Leh and the surrounding Zanskar mountain from the
rooftop.
Post Breakfast we proceed to Indus Valley Monastery Starting with
Hemis Gompa, the largest monastic
foundation of Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism, Thiksey Monastery is an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a
hill above the village, Shey Palace,
The ancient capital of Ladakh, 3 Idiots
Rancho School & Sindhu Ghat.
After visiting the above places we drive back to Leh. Overnight at Hotel.
SHEY – It was the ancient capital of Ladakh and even after
Singge Namgyal built the more imposing palace at Leh, the kings continued to
regard Shey, as their real home. The importance which was attached to Shey –
the seat of Ladakh’s heartland – is attested by the enormous number of Chorten
about the village, particularly around the palace complex and barren plain to
the north of the road.
THIKSEY – Is one of the largest and most impressive Gompas. There are several temples in this Gompa containing images, stupas, and exquisite wall paintings. It also houses a two-storied statue of Buddha which has the main prayer hall around its shoulder
HEMIS – Which is dedicated to Padmasambhava, a visitor can observe a series of scenes in which the lamas, robed in gowns of rich, brightly-colored brocade and sporting masks sometimes bizarrely hideous, parade in solemn dance and mime around the huge flag pole in the center of the courtyard to the plaintive melody of the Shawn.
3 IDIOTS RANCHO SCHOOL:-This school became famous after Aamir Khan's movie Three Idiots. The name of this school is Druk Padma Karpo School, which is also known as Druk White Lotus school. The clean and eco-friendly structures of the school are designed to withstand seismic disturbances. This school was conferred one of the most beautiful schools in the world by BBC London in the year 2016.
SINDHU GHAT is a riverbank near Shey Monastery in Leh. Located 10 Km upstream of the Indus river, it originates from Mansarovar Lake and Mount Kailash in Tibet. The scenic landscape of this attraction near Leh seems surreal. The barren mountains, rocky terrain, and river traversing the region are a sight to behold. Visit this ghat during the Sindhu Darshan Festival in June to experience the cultural extravaganza that Leh has to offer. The festival comprises sightseeing trips, campfires,s, and many more exciting activities.

breakfast, we leave for Pangong Lake

brackish Lake of Pangong is 5/6 Kms wide and over 133 Kms long with half of its
running on the other side of the "INDO
CHINA BORDER". One rarely feels so close to nature and the environment and
the scenery is unforgettable. After the success of 3 Idiots, this beautiful
natural location has attracted more tourists from all over the world. After
