Of these, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer are the couple of paradises which imposes Rajasthan biggest cultural fete, built heritage flux in architectural grandeur until there functional admiral streets.
Jodhpur - The Blue City
Jodhpur : also known as the Blue City, it is a fusion of history and culture rolled together with modernity. Its cityscape is topped by the mighty Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest and best-preserved forts in India. This architectural marvel, which sits on top of a jagged hill, offers panoramic views onto the city below where houses are painted in shades of blue—a custom that's said to help keep homes chilly within the desert climate. The colorful bazaars of Jodhpur filled with local handicrafts, textiles and spices are a perfect example how it still maintains its legacy as trade & culture center. You can visit the grand Umaid Bhawan Palace that represents the royal heritage of Jodhpur and admire its serene Jaswant Thada which is a beautiful white-marble cenotaph providing you with an escape from everyday hustle-bustle in this busy city.
Jaisalmer - The Golden City
Continuing down west, Jaisalmer: the Golden City and its gold-like yellow stone matting in sunshine. Your trip to Jaisalmer is incomplete without a visit the magnificent fort (palaces, temples) of golden city which has secured it as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Most amazingly, it is one of the few “living forts” in the world with still almost a quarter of its population residing within their ancient walls. In this fort and in its narrow lanes with winding paths are some havelis, Jain temples & shops where history tells the tale of yore. The golden sands of the Thar Desert lie beyond with sunset making them look like a sea adorned in gold. There is nothing more iconic in the region that a trek through the dunes on camel back and an overnight under sky providing view into true nomadic lifestyle.
It is of Very Much Cultural and Historical Importance
Jodhpur and Jaisalmer-Deeply rooted in history, as both the cities had been of great importance for the defense and trade routes within the Rajput era. In the cities of Jodhpur, Bikaner and Udaipur — from their architecture to cuisine (as well as customs) reflects a combination that offers rare insight into warrior ethos, artisanal sensibilities but above all sheer resilience in which its people has prospered on this unforgiving desert for centuries.
